The BOSU Ball looks like a stability ball cut in half. It was invented by David Weck in 1999, and consists of an inflated rubber hemisphere attached to a rigid platform. Its name is an acronym for “BOth Sides Up,” which is how it is intended for use. The BOSU Ball has many uses and is appropriate for a wide variety of users including athletes, those injured, and the elderly.
